AACD President’s Corner

AACD continues to thrive, because of its dedicated officers and committees; active, involved membership; and activities that benefit the members and their constituents. A good example is Dr. Michael Smith’s outstanding work with the Communications Committee. Look for even more enhancements to the Newsletter and the website in the coming year.

I am pleased to report that the March, 2007 PeriOPro workshop at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliff Resort in Phoenix was a great success. The program was extraordinarily worthwhile and the setting marvelous. Members enjoyed the many networking opportunities and it was a pleasant respite for all!

Sadly, at that meeting, Dr Rob Jones informed the Board that he would be scaling back his activities because of a serious illness. Rob was a founding member and a critical force in shaping AACD into the productive organization it has become. His wealth of experience, sharp mind and entrepreneurial talents earned him great respect in the medical community. Rob Jones passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. We will greatly miss our good friend and valued colleague. The AACD is a fitting tribute to his legacy.

With Rob’s input and influence, the program was developed for next year’s PeriOPro at the Hilton Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida and it looks to be an outstanding event focusing on operating room teamwork and maximizing the results from consultants. Save the date – March 7-9, 2008. The Board welcomes members interested in becoming involved, so please let us know if you wish to be even more active.
