The mission of the Association is to enhance and improve the quality of anesthesia care rendered in the United States and other nations with which clinical anesthesia directors may associate; to provide education with respect to operating room organization, management and the direction of clinical anesthesia services through conferences, courses, and publication of scientific articles, bulletins and periodicals; to provide for the exchange and development of scientific information and other matters of professional, technical and ethical interest in relation to operating room management and clinical anesthesia services; to encourage interest, research and education in operating room affairs and the delivery of clinical anesthesia services; to promote the efficient use of resources, coordinate methods of data gathering, develop standards for operating room management; and to cooperate with universities, governmental agencies or any other organizations in matters affecting the purposes of the Association. The Association is dedicated to providing clinical anesthesia directors cost-effective benefits, including a subscription to the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia (JCA); increased involvement to publish articles relevant to operating room management in JCA; a network of clinical anesthesia directors and their support staff through an electronic membership directory; financial savings on registration fees for AACD Annual Meetings and annual Workshops on Operating Room Management; interaction with a diversified membership from community-based hospitals to academic-teaching institutions; a forum for anesthesia clinical directors to find common solutions to operating room management problems universal to all members; job description of an operating room manager; and a procedural times glossary for use in scheduling and monitoring of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Meeting registration information, the membership directory, the job description of an operating room manager and the procedural times glossary are found on the Association’s Web site under a password protected members only section. Soon to be available on the Web site will be an on line membership application, renewal forms and meetings registration. To enter the member only section, at the user prompt type aacdmember and director as the password.
